If you're a current college student pinning all your hopes and dreams on working at a magazine once you graduate, you most likely will find yourself very disappointed. With the rise of digital, there are so fewer mag jobs available. And, even in the magazine world, you need to understand what works online...

  1. It talks about knowing the magazine-who it caters to, what their focus is, etc. That is just a general rule of writing for media. This is especially true with newspapers. Even big newspapers such as The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The New York Times and The Times-Picayune out of New Orleans focus on local happenings first. Or at least how the nation-wide or international happenings affect them.

  5. This article seems to look at the industry threw pestimistic eyes. Though threw out interviews we have all learned how quickly this industry has had to adapt as well as how we have to adapt to the many new types of media.
